The U.S. Department of State will host a signing ceremony following the Thirteenth U.S.-Italy Joint Commission Meeting and in honor of the 30th Anniversary of the U.S.-Italy Science and Technology Agreement at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, December 7, 2018, in the Treaty Room. The signing of the joint declaration will culminate a week of meetings, thematic workshops, and side events to discuss opportunities for U.S.-Italian collaboration and ways to enhance science and technology cooperation. The signing ceremony will also follow the Plenary Session hosted by the Italian Embassy on December 6. Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary Jonathan Margolis in the Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs and Deputy Chief of Mission Maurizio Greganti of the Italian Embassy will provide brief remarks before signing the joint declaration.
The ceremony is open to credentialed members of the press. Media representatives who wish to cover this event must RSVP no later than Thursday December 6 at 3:00 p.m. to [email protected].
The day of the event, participants are asked to please provide one of the following: (1) a U.S. Government-issued photo media credential (e.g., Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense or Foreign Press Center), or (2) an official photo identification card issued by their news organization, or (3) a letter from their employer on official letterhead verifying their current employment as a journalist.
Additionally, they must present an official government photo identification card (i.e., U.S. driver’s license or passport).
