Temporary Road/Lane Closures of N Jefferson Street and E Whiting Street to begin September 19, 2018 for Utility Construction

A portion of N Jefferson Street between E Jackson Street and E Whiting Street and a portion of E Whiting Street between N Jefferson Street and N Pierce Street will close on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, as part of Phase 5 of the TECO upgrade project.  The TECO subcontractor will be installing conduit on the north side of E Whiting Street between N Jefferson Street and N Pierce Street. 

Phase 4 construction work on E Whiting Street between N Jefferson Street and N Pierce Street is expected to be completed by 4 pm on Tuesday, September 18, 2018, with the contractor transitioning into the Phase 5 work. 

On September 19, 2018 at 9 am, one (1) southbound lane on N Jefferson Street between E Jackson Street and Washington Street, both southbound lanes on N Jefferson Street between E Washington Street and E Whiting Street and both westbound lanes on E Whiting Street between N Jefferson Street and N Pierce Street will close.  It is anticipated that this phase of construction work will be completed by 4 pm on Tuesday, September 25, 2018, weather permitting. 

Sidewalks in the construction area will be closed.  Pedestrians will be detoured to other sidewalks in the area via signage.

Two (2) additional phases will follow upon completion of Phase 5 construction work.  The following streets will have interim lane closures.

Phase 6: E Whiting Street between S Nebraska Avenue and N Jefferson Street and S Jefferson Street between E Brorein Street and E Whiting Street – one (1) westbound lane and two (2) northbound lanes

Phase 7: S Jefferson Street between E Whiting Street and E Brorein Street and E Whiting Street between N Pierce Street and S Jefferson Street –two (2) southbound lanes and one (1) eastbound lane

It is anticipated that these 7 phases of the TECO upgrade project will be completed and all lanes will be open to traffic by 4 pm on Sunday, September 30, 2018, weather permitting.

The City recommends using alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion.
