The owner, Sasimonthon Ongartsutthikul, also owns Thai Kitchen. A family-owned Thai restaurant chain with locations across the St. Louis region. There is a Thai Kitchen already in Maryland Heights, which she started in 1999. She sold it a few years ago to an unrelated party, and is not part of her chain. It is the only location in the region that is not part of the Ongartsutthikul chain.
Ongartsutthikul has denounced any affiliation with the Maryland Heights location and wants the public to be clear about the ownership.
Therefore, her new location has to operate under a different name, which is Thai Mama. The name may be other, but the menu and service will remain the same. The name is to prevent confusion among the public.
